Police trap

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

It was summer, everyone was out on vacation, but Nic stayed to work on a new project that showed a lot of promise. Nic had been at the office for over ten hours straight, and he was more than ready to head home and relax. He went down the elevator, walked through the lobby, exited the building and was greeted by a gust of warm air, reminding him of the scorching heat outside.

He made his way to the car park, excited to hop into his sleek Ferrari 488 GTB and get home. As he climbed into the driver's seat, he felt the leather cushion mold to his body, and he hit the gas, feeling the powerful engine roar to life. The sound was music to his ears, and he couldn't help but smile as he drove out of the lot.

As he made his way along the road, , lowered the volume of the stereo to enjoy the sound of the engine, he loved the manual mode, switching through the gears with the paddles. It was moments like these that reminded him why he had worked so hard to afford a car like this. He turned up the volume on the stereo and let the music wash over him.

But his moment of bliss was soon interrupted when he noticed a cop car hidden behind a tree with a radar gun. Nic checked his speed and saw that he was well within the limit, so he continued on his way, feeling confident that he wouldn't be in trouble.

But just as he thought he was in the clear, a cop named Officer Rodriguez pulled him over. Nic rolled down his window and tried to make small talk, cracking a few jokes to lighten the mood. But Rodriguez wasn't amused and informed him that he had driven into a speed trap.

Nic couldn't believe it. He had been driving carefully and was sure that he hadn't been speeding. He tried to make another joke to get out of the ticket, but the cop wasn't having it. He felt frustrated and annoyed, and he knew that he would have to pay for a costly ticket just for driving a Ferrari!

He didn't want to give up just yet. He requested that the cop who had caught him speeding confirm that he was indeed breaking the limit. Rodriguez agreed to contact the cop, who had been stationed further down the road with the radar gun.

As he waited, Nic couldn't help but think about how unfair the situation was. He had been driving responsibly, and yet he was still getting punished for something he hadn't done. He felt a sense of injustice and anger bubbling up inside him.

A few minutes later, Rodriguez returned and informed Nic that the other cop had said that the Ferrari was not speeding. Nic breathed a sigh of relief, happy to have avoided a ticket. Rodriguez then made a joke about how the Ferrari looked like it was going fast even when standing still. Nic laughed, feeling grateful that the situation had been resolved without any further issues. He thanked Rodriguez and shook his hand. Officer Rodriguez asked to take a picture of the Ferrari and I agreed.

As he drove away, Nic couldn't help but reflect on the power of a good joke. While it hadn't worked in getting him out of a ticket, it had helped to diffuse the tension in the situation and make it more bearable. He made a mental note to always keep a sense of humor, even in tough situations.

He also reminded himself to always be aware of his speed, no matter how confident he felt in his driving skills. Getting pulled over was never a fun experience, and he didn't want to have to go through it again. He knew that the ticket could have been a lot worse, and he felt lucky to have avoided it this time.

But for now, he was just happy to be heading home in his beautiful Ferrari. He turned up the volume on the stereo, and enjoyed the ride, doing quick burst of speed when possible. He knew that there would be more adventures in store for him in the future, but he was ready to face them with a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. He was grateful for his car, his job, and the simple pleasures in life that made it all worthwhile.
